Using Wax Seal Stamps Create Wax Seal Jewelry
Did you know that can use a regular wax seal stamp to create beautiful jewelry and charms? It's pretty easy and your pendant will be a unique masterpiece. This can be done by using a special metal clay. Metal clay is white and easy to mold. You can easily pick some up at your local craft store or online. You will need access to a kiln for this project as you will need to heat up the clay at 1650 degree Fahrenheit for 2 hours.
Things You'll Need
- Soap
- Water
- Lint-Free Cloth
- Silver Metal Clay
- Wax Seal Stamp
- Wax Paper
- Small Coffee Straw
- Kiln
- Heat Resistant Tile
Prep Your Space!
Start off with prepping your work area by placing down a piece of wax paper. This also will help with easy removal of the clay when you're done.
Clean Hands For Clean Art
Avoid getting small debris or lint in your masterpiece. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Dry hands with a lint-free cloth.
Molding The Clay
Take a bit of the silver metal clay and roll out a one inch ball. Place the ball on the wax paper and gently press the ball into a circle, approximately 3/8 inch thick.
Now use your wax seal stamp to stamp in your design! Take the wax seal stamp with the design of your choosing. Center the wax seal stamp stamp over the clay and press into it. Don't press all the way. Pressing on it too lightly will barely leave an impression and pressing too hard will create a fragile charm prone to breakage. Only press a quarter of an inch deep.
Remove the wax stamp and check your design. If you aren't happy you can roll up the clay and start again.
Now we need to make the hole to hold the jewelry piece. Take a small coffee straw and center it above the wax seal impression. Press the end of the straw all the way through the clay to punch out the hole. Remove the straw. Allow the clay to lay flat for 24 hours to dry.
Time To Heat Things Up
Once the clay has dried take the pendant and place it on a heat resistant tile. Take the title and place it on the bottom of the kiln.
Set the kiln to 1650 degrees Fahrenheit. Heat for 2 hours. Allow the kiln to cool completely before removing.
The Finishing Touches
Your pendant is almost done. Just add the ring thru the hole of the pendant and you're ready use it however you like. You can add them to your charm bracelet or use it for a necklace. They make beautiful pieces and make wonderful, unique and personal gifts for families and friends.
